I just got my new corals settled and a worm I've never seen came out of my rocks. I want an ID before it eats my new babies!

Looks like a bristle worm. Flat worms are usually alot smaller. There are many types of flat worms but that is def a bristle and is coral safe.

Whew! Why they picked now to emerge is anyone's guess. Maybe they just like scaring the life outta people.

At least the worms turned out to be safe. :/ I just spotted a new aiptasia nem this morning that I now have to get rid of.

Eienna, you do know that flatworms and bristleworms are not the same, right. What you have is a bristleworm, the harmless type.

Yes they are not the same but so many people call bristle worms flat worms , I just was not going to explain it all.

...after 4yrs in the hobby I have NEVER heard a Bristle Worm referred as being called a Flat Worm.
What forums you hanging out on? Lol

Yeah...I thought that was wrong.

As long as it isn't the fire worm I was reading about, I'm always appreciative of some new CUC members,. :) I swear this reef's gonna give me a heart attack before I'm done, though! Stuff I. don't recognize always pops up at the exact time to make me panicky (like when I just got some awesome new corals I can't just replace!)

I pretty much knew what bristleworms are, but I had never seen one, so I didn't know that was what it was XD

Thanks for responding so fast, guys <3
