Help ID this creature...

Hey everyone,

many chance someone out there can help me ID what this is on my rocks? It wiggles from time to time and moves to a different spot every day about 1/2” away.

Just curious if I should be getting rid of it... or see what come from it?

Haven’t got any new rocks. I got a couple new frag plugs over 3-4weeks ago. Including the zoas in the foreground. I did get a coco feather duster worm at that time to.

i suppose its possible that its came in on a frag would gather it would have been abit smaller then though

Yes to both. Blue legged hermit crabs a plenty, as well as 4 nassarius snails, 2 turbo snails, and 1 Trochus snail.

i know that hermits will take snail shells but usually they kill the snail first

Very interesting. Are they all considered good for a tank or are there pest bivalves?

My ex brother in law bought some mussels from the super market and put them in his tank as his LFS told him that it would be a good idea

i would say they are as fishguy said extra filtration

I don't know if any bad or predatory bivalves since they are only filter feeders. I've heard some are hard to keep in our tanks though.

Looks like a bivalve. Harmless, good filter feeders.
