Can someone help ID the hitchhiker grow on my candy cane? Thanks

Pretty big vermetid snail. Can you take the candy cane out? I would use bone cutters or anything else to lop it off of the candy cane skeleton and toss it. They reproduce quickly in a tank once they get going.
