I just kicked dinos butt in my 10g and got the nutrience elevated and now I noticed this weird microalgae growing on my zoa plug. Any ideas?

I'll also add I have chaeto in my fuge that sometimes leaks into the display. However this algae is directly connected to the plug so it's probably not chaeto

Not much help but I have what looks like that in my reef and it couldn’t get identified at a few different local shops. It’s very stubborn, won’t die off, but my cleaners do eat it.

I’ve got this macro in my tank. It came on my tbs rock. I’m not sure what it is, but when it starts sprouting, it looks similar to what you have. It’s a red macro, but has some greenish tint to it depending on how it’s doing. It comes and goes.

It looks like a green filamentous algae. Not sure of the exact name. Trochus, cerith, and astrea snails have eaten it in my tank.

That red macro is gracilaria parvisipora.

Did you figure out what it was / how to get rid of it? I have the same thing in small amounts on some zoa frag plugs.

I don't recall if I scrubbed it off or it just naturally died off. And no it was never pinpointed on what it was
Got it. Thank you. I have been doing 50% peroxide dips the past few weeks and it gets most off, but still leaves a few strands.

Im pretty sure I used a wire brush to take it off then a spot treat with 3% peroxide
I might try the wire brush. I bought a gun cleaning brush someone mentioned, but that hasn't done much. Today I started spot treating with a q-tip and pure peroxide.

An update that I never figured out what exactly the algae was, but Reef Flux Fluconazole got rid of it after two weeks. After one week not much seemed to have changed, but after 2 weeks it was gone. The wire brushing would only cut it down but it would grow back for me.
