Hello R2R!

I believe I have nudis in my tank, but I dont know if they are good or bad. They are white with many little "legs" coming off the sides. I'm worried that these things will eat my corals. I have everything in my tank, SPS, LPS, zoas, a BTA, etc.

Can anyone help ID these? Is there any way to get rid of them if they the "bad" kind of nudis?

Thanks for your help!

Yes its a nudibranch. Hard to tell what type though. Siphon them out as you see them. @KJ any idea on what type?

Have any montis? Could be a monti eating nudi
A new issue arising for some is that some(if not most) vendors have aiptasia eating nudis in their tanks as a preventative measure of control and they look VERY similar to monti eating nudis

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, I have a couple of monti's and just noticed a bunch of these things on the underside of my JF Slow Burn Monti!

Any recommendations? Revive dip??

Thanks for your help!

Sadly this seems to be monti eating nudis. Based on what I'm reading it is already too late...they have invaded my tank. I flipped over a few more monti's and there are colonies of these critters all underneath them.

If I remove the Monti's from the tank, will these things eat other SPS, or will they just die off with no food source?

When we put corals through out QT we did and scrape the bottom of the coral where they were to remove any eggs. Then we cover any part of it that was not alive with glue so that the nudis cant lay eggs.

We repeat this process 8-10 times over the 3+ month before corals get put into the farm systems.

If you can set up a QT tank it'll make things a lot easier. Place all montis into that QT tank and start the process. Yellow coris wrasses are also super helpful.

On your last question, sometimes they will consume other acroporas but that is really rare

IMO a lot of the published articles available online right now are old and extremely outdated.
These guys are easily destroyed in a QT tank with some consistency

Thank you for the advice and your words of encouragement. I do have a QT so I will go with your advice and hopefully I can beat these little ****.

Go figure, the JF frag is the one most affected

Good luck! As long as you break their egg laying cycle by covering up the bottom parts of the montis and kill the adults with dips you should be fine in the QT

Look like monti eating nudi .
