Hey guys hope the pictures are ok. Its brownish red in color. Doesnt look like cyanobacteria. Mexican turbos seem to like it. Have a 105 gallon clean up crew coming from reef cleaners. However it's all over my new sand and crushed coral I just put in a cpl frag tables and it's annoying the crap out of me!
Can you help ID? Any thing I can do with my nutrients to help combat?

Phosphates between .01 and .03
Nitrates 15-20 ppm
Cal 380
Mag 1300
Salinity 1.025
Temps 75.6- 76.5

Could be film algae. Most likely detritus fueled in the sand bed, on the glass, not sure.

Cant imagine how. Its brand new well rinsed sand as well as brand new crushed coral. Only 5 fish in entire system and in res and not near tables.
I believe your right with film algae because the turbos will eat it.
Trying to figure out if and what I can do better with nutrients.
I know my nitrates are high. And I recently bottomed out my Phosphates in a recent Nitrate overdose. Theres not much I can do in the way of water change I have to let my system catch back up after recently doing 100% water change.

My local lfs guy told me he combats these kind of things with higher magnesium?

Idk

Your mag and calcium could be a little higher.

New sand, even rinsed well, especially crushed coral, can have some nutrients looked in it. This will pass in time. In the mean time, vacuum it out during a water change.

Your nutrients are actually pretty good N03 and P04 wise.

10 4 thank you @Flippers4pups. I run a mushroom dominant system so havent been real concerned with cal or mag until now.
Where would you suggest cal and mag be considering my inhabitants.
I think my lfs guy told me he runs his mag around 1400-1450.
He was pretty adamant about running higher mag.
But could it have adverse effects on my shrooms?
