Hey all.
In the middle of cycling (around 3 months) and these guys have started to spread. I first noticed this aroun 2 weeks ago and now there is a fair amount. Idk what it is so I need help ID. I don’t think it is dinos. Maybe a strain of cyano?
Is it ok to treat with chemiclean I only have 2 hammers in the tank.
thanks

Almost looks like a macro algae honestly. If you got an urchin it might disappear within seconds. I wouldn’t be too concerned unless it starts to attack corals (grow on them). Chemiclean is great in what it does however it does not solve the issue, only a temporary solution. Could use it to weaken it then introduce a macro algae to outcompete it. I’d be interested in what it actually is though :)

Thanks for the reply. It is intersting aye. Never seen this before. It looks more snot like or jelly like to be macro algae in my opinion. It does seem to grow in length with some of them.

Total agreement. Most algae will carpet, then go up off the sand/rocks but it’s like it picks a root spot then grows up. Interesting stuff
