So I had this algae pop up awhile back. It has the consistency of cotton balls, grows in a tight knit fashion. Almost looks like green balls of clouds when left alone. This is not hair algae and not turf from what I was told. Nutrients in my tank were zero'd out. The picture with me holding the stuff was what I ended up pulling out with my finger tips after 1 week. This was me doing this week after week. I Tank is about a year old. I ended up pulling my corals and doing a 2 week black out, tank completely covered. After two weeks, while it didn't grow, it was not dead. I did spot treatments of 20% peroxide which ended up killing it all. A timely process of only 12ml a day. Fast forward 2 months and it's coming back. I have my corals back in now and lost a bunch from the last go round.
The only natural predator I found that ate it was tuxedo urchins. But with 7 in a 120 they couldn't keep up with the growth rate.
I tried flux RX and this did nothing to it. Dosed at the recommended rate.
Any help would be appreciated!
