Can anyone help identify this coral?

Its not piercing through, the coral is just very retracted, likely because it was moved out of water/dipped
yes I just bought it I’m acclimating it now. Do you suggest taking it off the frag plug and glueing it directly to a rock?

You could, it will look better though isn't necessary. Though it may be a good idea to keep unwanted pests out.

Candy cane and likely stressed from possibilities:
location
too much flow
insufficient light

They were acclimating it when they took the photo, it's just unhappy from the move
 
Purple rimmed candy cane, doesn't look dead yet.
