So as previously mentioned I took over a marine tank from a friend a few weeks ago. As I'm going about normal tank husbandry I've been noticing a lot of cool stuff. One thing in particular, almost out of nowhere there appears to be some sort of small anemone, or at least I think that's what it is.

I've posted a picture below, if you can't tell from the picture it's tendrils are brown color with white ringed tips. I couldn't get a good angle but it has small bright green center. I thought it was perhaps an algae build up, but now think it's more likely a mouth. It's very reactive, the little tendrils stretch out and look like they're feeling around, but if I get too close (like trying to take a picture) he recoils to a small bushy form. Then at night he REALLY shrinks up, I can hardly notice him, he looks like just a bit of rock. Truly fascinating!

I'm still getting acquainted with all my new tank inhabitants, and would appreciate if someone could help identify him so I can do a little more research, thanks!

It does look like a Euphyllia (E. paradivisa) so not an anemone but a hard coral with the common name of frogspawn, it's pretty I love those purple tips.

It was provably a baby that grew up u less hey lost a frag in there.

I received a coral with 4 tentacles on the side of the frag plug. Now a year later multiple head torch is growing off a frag disc.

Awesome thanks for all the feedback. Again hard to see from the picture, but leads me to wonder, what's the bright green area in the center?

Looks like photo artifact to me, but maybe just some other coloration.

I'm walking out the door, but when I get back I'll see if I can get the angle maybe even some video. However no it's not just the picture, I can see down in it and it's a very bright green. Weird!

This is my paradivisa with blue light when closed at night

The green on your picture can be the hard part of the coral

And this is the look when at daylight

Just be careful not to have it near soft corals, they tend to be aggressive :-) and the polips can reach far :-)
