Help Identify This In My Tank

could you all help me identify what recently started growing on my rocks? My tank has been up and running for 1 year and half now.

Matt, do you have a photo with daylight/actinic cut off? It's hard to tell, but my first two guesses are either sponges growing or bacterial mats.

spaghetti sponge They can pop up when you have stable water and are great filter feeders A great addition to a reef tank, they'll grow in shaded areas with lower flow and consume extra food/waste in the water column. Usually a sign of a mature/stable tank. Congrats!

Hi Matt, looks like the same Blue/grey sponges that I have in my tank. I usually remove most of any bits that are too close to my corals. It often grows back, but is manageable for me.

Thanks @andrewey, I knew they were a good sign, but didn't know what sort of sponges they were.
