That looks like a wound to me, possibly from scraping on a rock. Did it just show up? If so it may just heal on its own but you want to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected. Let's ask @HotRocks @4FordFamily and @ngoodermuth just to make sure

Just keep an eye on it and watch for redness. That should heal itself.
