Please help me identify this algae and if anyone knows a way to control/eliminate it..

Is it feathery or hairy. Looks to be GHA,green hair algae, to me. If you pluck it down short your clean up crew and fish will eat it. They don't like it when it's long. Fixing it is a matter of plucking it down or brushing it off and nutrient control.

I'd say hairy...almost feels like turf grass, I have been pulling/scraping it off but it grows back very fast. I'm running GFO and carbon...only thing I did notice was my RO water is at 026 per my tds meter. Would that be enough to cause this?

I couldn't tell you what the TDS is from. Have you checked your RO for nitrates or phosphates? Step up your water changes will help a lot. Get some Scarlet Hermit Crabs and put them on it.

I have had 2. Both I have gave away after they did there job, due to they starve to death. They are even good for eating red slim algee in most cases

026 is pretty high. Enough to cause algae growth? Depends on how long you've been using the water in that condition.

I'm ashamed to say I have been using it like this for atleast 3-4 weeks, I have a new rodi unit on the way to me..went with a spectra pure 5stage. I'm hoping that the dirty top off water was the cause and that big water changes and use of 0 tds reading will help eliminate the issue..what are your thoughts?

Have you tested your nitrate level?

Yes I'm somewhere between 2.5-5 per salifert.....currently dosing a product by Red Sea called NoPox for nitrate and phosphate as well as running gfo and carbon
