This clear branching organism grew in my tank over the weekend when I was out of town. The best guess I have is some kind of tube sponge, but I'm not really sure what it could be. Any help coming up with and ID and a plan for getting rid of it would definitely be appreciated!

The picture doesn't really show it too well but that large central tube is hollow and open on the end, which is what made me think it might be a type of sponge.

here is something i pulled off google images not sure it will help but the image is of an aptasia

I have used Aiptasia X wit good results. The trick is shooting the goop before they retract. Then they take it in with them and bye bye. Others have used kalkwasser. I feel like somewhere, someone used vinegar? Don't quote that....
Definitely want it to go away before it spawns out a family tree.

pmsl hahahah they certainly can cause a head ache lol
I have a good friend with a 300 gallon nightmare of Aiptasia. He is ready to dismantle the whole tank. They have made me paranoid. I think I may have accidently zapped a baby feather duster out of paranoia. LOL

Initially, it resembles an aptasia but looking at it closer there seems to be some root like structures. My guess would be some kind of sponges as I have something like that in my tanks. And those are definitely not Aiptasia since they are milky to pearly white and have siphons.

Thanks, I didn't think it was aiptasia but I wanted to be sure. If it's some kind of sponge it's probably best to just leave it be then right? Will it be a problem if I want to put zoas or something on those rocks?

Sponges normally don’t cause much issue unless they die in big numbers, they’ll leach toxins. Just leave it be and it shouldn’t cause much issues to any corals nearby it.
