Hi everyone,
I recently got in an Australia shipment and I received three pieces of this coral. It was labeled as a monti which I know is not what it is. I think it's a cyphastrea but any input would be great. Thank you for looking.

@evolved.

It may not be cyphastera, I just can not remember the name.

Some sort of Turbinaria?

How many tentacles does each polyp have?

It does look very similar. And I was set that it wasn't a monti lol

I am right, but you are entitled to think what you wish. :p:cool::D

Total sarcasm aside, it's 100% Astreopora. The exact species is the tricky question, and for that I am not guessing!

Thank you very much for your input on it. I knew I had seen that growth pattern before with the raised polyp mounds but couldn't think of what it was.

It'll go next to my assortment of cyphastreas. 3 nice pieces that size are what I received.

I've never even heard of an Astreopora before. You learn something new everyday. ;)
