Is this an aussie gold torch? Planning to buy this from a local reefer and just wanting some advice if it's healthy.

From what I've seen online an aussie gold torch looks more like this. Not sure why there is such a huge difference in coloration.

Remember these names mean close to nothing as a "gold torch" can range from 10% yellow coloring to 100% yellow coloring with sub names such as holy grail or endo or og being thrown in for the color of the oral disk with prices to match. Pick the torch you like at the price you want to pay and forget the name, you'll be much happier. Just my 2 pesos

Oh I see. Always thought that the name aussie gold torch was a name specific to the color of the coral and not just a common name. I feel like I will have to see it in person to really see the colors on it.

It's very generalized, for example I have some utter chaos zoas that everytime they pop a new head the color changes a bit, some brighter some duller, some retain the pattern some don't. I can frag all of them under the utter chaos name with those closer to "what they are supposed to look like" fetching a higher price than the others. It's all just colors and morphs and how much a perticular dummy ehh I mean buyer is willing to pay

Looks like an aussie gold torch to me. It just means a torch that is gold that comes from Australia. No name game here.
Lighting is everthing.
You can get it to look pretty close to the second picture with lighting.

I bought this exact same one from a reef store in nj. It looked exactly the same as the picture in person but not under my lights at the time. Since then I have adjusted my lights and at night with full blues they do glow gold.

Wow thats some nice colors. Do you have a pic of it now in your tank?

Yea I'm just worried that when I buy it it won't look as gold as the pics I see online. Maybe because of the camera or just the lighting that doesn't make the gold pop up.

Cellphone pic. They do look greener in cell phone pics. In person it looks like the picture from the reef store now.

Just for reference. This is another tank I have.

Farthest left is actually orange.
The one next to it is yellow.
Farthest right side is a dragon soul that is almost completely gold color.
Point is they are hard to get colors under blue and most cameras. Some use filters. Others adjust colors to best represent real life colors. Other manipulate them to unrealistic colors to sell faster. Hope that helps.

Wow you got quite a collection going on there! Guess the only way to see the actual color is to look at it in person.

Hoping to grow out my torch collection soon. Only got 1 so far.

Btw what are you using to take pics of your tank? Your colors are so clear. It seems like my pictures are usually too dark or it doesn't show the colors of the corals well

Nice one there. I am thinking about a green one. I just had to much green in my tank and started pulling green corals out and give them away to local guys.

I am using a Samsung s10 in pro mode. No filters or touch ups.

Using the s10 in pro mode too. What phone settings are you using?

Just these right now. It's a screen shot not an actual picture but you can see the settings. It's just a quick thing I am no pro at it tho. I can't remember how much white light is in the original picture. Right now is early in the morning so it's still full blue. Hope it helps.
