Hey everyone I was in a local fish store and they took this puffer in on consignment. They have it listed as a dogface puffer. But I’ve never seen this variation. I really like it but not sure what kind it is.

Me either ! I had to throw his picture up. Would love to give him a home but he is $200. I also don’t want to overpay

Thank you. I saw them online. Maybe he is just some odd variation. Never seen a color pattern like this. If it was an arothron is $200 a fair price? He is quite large. About 10”

$200 fair. Beautiful fish and does get big but I don’t believe It grows at a fast rate
 
There is a version of the "Starry Puffer", aka Arothron stellatus, that looks like this. Google images and see if you think it matches. It may be in transitional state between juvenile to adult.
