Hey all,

I have something growing in my refugium that has recently started now growing my main tank (pictures below). I at first thought it was aiptasia but now im not so sure. It is opaque with tendril like growths. It grows in clumps adhered to rock/ulva/acrylic. I'd love if someone could ID it for me. Sorry the pictures aren't great. Its pretty small but I'd like to keep it that way. Thanks in advance.

That looks exactly like an invasive species of sponge! Loves high nutrients and low light common in reef tanks under rocks and in sumps.

Ciliate sponge which is a type of poriferan sponge. Can become evasive in time. Non filter feeder and of no benefit. Should be able to peel off in one layer

Huhhh. That would explain why I couldn't ID it. I've never seen this before. Any suggestions on how to deal with it? It's all throughout my macro algae in the fuge. My nutrients are really low. Tested today at 0.3 nitrate, 0.01 phosphate. Thanks for the help guys.
