Help IDing Caribbean urchin

[Downfall]

This came on my KP Aquatics live rock out of the Tampa Bay area.

Thinking it's one of these two options, thoughts?

Might also be a pencil urchin, but I'm leaning towards rock boring.

I don’t think it’s either of the two you’re thinking, it’s a pencil urchin of some sort (there are species in the Atlantic and Caribbean).

+1 to pencil urchin, juvenile urchins generally show similar relative quill spacing and size to the adults. I.e. they really do just look like shrunken down versions of the adults, so the wider spacing and thicker quills are not just a juvenile trait.

Definitely pencil urchin. Looks like a smaller version of mine.
