hey guys I've had this puffer fish for over a week he has had this white dot on his bottom back fin fin since I got him it does look like a lump I think maybe its gotten bigger. When taking the photos today it kind of looks like its either lumpier or coming off im really unsure.
I have treated water with metroplex pro 3 times.
Yesterday mixed with focus and treated orally.
I can't use copper as he is a puffer
Did a fresh water dip 3 days ago for 10 mins looked like white dots were left in fresh water. Pic didn't show very well but I will attach anyway.
Could it be a scar? If its a fluke how do I get rid of it?
Thanks in advance for any help

Most likely flukes if fell off after a freshwater dip.

Sorry, the pic isn't quite clear enough to see. Individual flukes are very difficult to see when living on a fish. There are two basic kinds, Neobenedenia which are large and look like fish scales when they drop of during a dip. The other kind are Gyrodactylus/Dactylogyrus and they are small and I need to microscope to see them in dip water. Dips won't cure the fish, as they never remove 100% of the flukes, and some flukes are egg layers and leave eggs in your tank.

I usually only dip for five minutes. I have treated puffers with chelated copper, just not ionic copper. If you come up against the choice of the fish having a protozoan disease, or dosing it with copper, you may have to choose the latter.

Thank you I have copermine is that the one you used? What dosages?

I use Coppersafe. Cupramine should be fine, just add the dose following label instructions, but split the dose over three days to increase it slowly. Never use ammonia remover when using Cupramine, that release the copper and kills the fish.

In looking at the pic again, the puffer is kind of skinny, is it eating ok?

likely flukes and Jay answered your needs agreeingly
