Help - is this a pest?

Hello fellow reefers. I just received a frag from WWC and found this brown slimy thing on the frag. Any idea what it is?

The frag is of a ricordea mushroom.

Can you remove it with tweezers?

Yeah the black thing. It's not easily removable. I can probably scrape it off with a knife

Likely a beneficial critter, I'd leave it.

Assuming it's not hard, I would think either a sponge or colonial tunicate from what I can see.

OP, do you have any pics of it in the water?

A snail maybe? I have black snails that look just like that I don't really see a shell though
