Hey found this monster free floating in my water after lights out. I think it is a Caulerpa Slug which says it is reef safe, but want to be sure as I have lots of coral! I do not want to hurt it, if it is harmless. He would be welcome to go back to his little slug life But if not it is the toilet for him.

Looks like a sea hare. But then again, without a very specific microscopic inspection, most nudibranchs are on the 'might be this, might be that' list of conspecifics.

Because of the benefits of sea hares, I would suggest leaving it in a jar with a live rock full of hair algae and see if it doesn't 'mow the grass' for you... if so, then peachy, you have a safe nudibranch/slug... if not, it will starve anyways as almost every nudibranch or sea slug has a specific, obligatory diet.

I have no hair algae in my tank but I put him in my mushroom nursery which is currently vacant till I know more. Figure with him secure in there he can wait till later verdict is found.

elysia nudibranch mostly herbivore

So I can probably let him be then. I have no issues in my tank other then my butt of a Blenny right now pulling Paly heads off.
