About an hour after feeding the tank I noticed my bounce mushroom looking like this... My guess is a hermit crab did this. Will it recover? What should I do to help...I really don’t want to lose this coral [emoji27]

Before picture pleaseI’m not sure what you mean, but it looks as tho there is a hole in the mushroom. The “bubble” on the left is poking through this hole...
Ooo ya I see what you mean. It's possible the mushroom had a piece of food and one of your shrimps or crabs wanted it and fought it for it. Mushrooms are pretty resilient. Just keep an eye on it. #reefsquad any thoughts.I’m not sure what you mean, but it looks as tho there is a hole in the mushroom. The “bubble” on the left is poking through this hole...

I wouldn't be worried at this point. Wait till it opens back up and see what it looks like then. Even if it is a small tear away from the mouth. Mushrooms are resilient even the expensive bounce.![]()
This was taken about a week ago.
Lol. Very true. Bubbles will come bsck. I've popped a few by accident. [emoji21]![]()
UPDATE: Mushroom has opened up. The bubbles where the damage occurred are deflated, as expected. Overall it is only about 50% it’s normal size when open.
I guess if a chunk of me was taken out I wouldn’t look my best.
It looks like it might be splitting (looks like a hole in first pic?). A few of mine have done this previously.
Is that a cleaner shrimp I see?? If so, id bet my very last dollar that it is more likely the culprit then a crab. I had two, even in a very well fed tank, I would catch picking at my mushrooms, anemones, and my Duncan polyps. They earned their one way ticket out when they tore acans and blasto mouths.Lol.
