Help! Is this brown jelly diease?

I had what looks the same as your photos. I lost all 3 thriving heads of what was originally a tiny single head frag. It spread to a 8" duncan colony with dozens of heads, which was originally a 2-3 head frag when I first started putting orals in my tank. I lost the entire duncan colony. Get it out. Put it in quarantine maybe, but get it into a separate system. I suspect there will already be other losses in the next few days.

Oh no. I got it out. Dip in hydrogen peroxide. My friend did that and work. I put it inside a fresh mix of saltwater and in a half gallon bucket. I don’t care if it survives but I wish it doesn’t kill my other corals . what the heck!

It did not looks like a fully developed brown jelly disease - so if you are lucky - the others will manage.

I don't think that it is BJD in this case. Usually the whole polyp is first covered in a brown jelly-like slime, then it's completely dead in a couple of hours. Yours don't look that slimy

Take it out and smell it. If it smell bad, its probably done for. I would remove it from your system.

How would you know if it’s spreading ? Should I do a water change ?

You'll know its spreading when the other euphyllia has the same problem. You can do your regular water changes. Don't do anything more than ordinary.. and if you want, run a little carbon.. that always help.

The key is don't do too much out of the ordinary that could shock your other corals. Small slow change is best since it's an isolated case.

You did right by getting it out. I've never seen a BJD infected head last as long as your's has and I'm leaning towards it being a "normal" receding head. It's no good that it didn't make but it still might, who knows? However, along with the other great advice given in this thread I would encourage you to pay particular attention to the advice that @Lasse offered up, take a breath and relax. There's nothing you can really do at this point that you haven't already.

I personally have had a heck of a time keeping euphyllia species and have a few wilt away and die in my system over the years. This kind of thing happens and I'm only writing this because I have freaked out plenty over the years and have a pretty good idea what you're going through. You're doing the right thing, keep an eye on your good corals and wait to see what happens. Sometimes "treating" a problem can be enough to do otherwise good frag in.

Then you learn and start over. I can't think of anyone in this hobby who hasn't dealt with a major setback or two but it's still worth it. Chance are you just lost a euphyllia which stinks but it does happen. If you happen to be in the Southeast US, I'll get you a replacement for free. On that note, I would encourage you to see if there's a local club in your area that you can plug in to. Around here (Atlanta) folks with tank issues can usually rebuild with donations from other local reefers (not that this is going to happen to you of course).

Kinda hard when I’m just a high school student and is always on a budget.. if I was stable and rich. It wouldn’t brother me .

I had 2 hammers. Lost one exactly like you describe with this hammer. Same species too.

Last 2-3 weeks my neon green hammer has been receding . I don’t know why as other corals is fine . I check params almost daily .

I thought it was pooping but something else is wrong. I posted a picture not too long ago where I see it’s mouth protruding very evidently

It’s still in my system receding daily. My favorite coral too.

I can dip it , but just don’t know if it’s going to make it

Now , I’m afraid to get another euphullia
