hi all just picked up this little frag tank used in great condition for cheap looking to see if anyone has any help on what would be a good little skimmer for this tank I could really use your guys ideas thanks all and merry Christmas !!!!

How deep is the tank....that is, would an in-tank skimmer fit because of the depth. I have a JBJ28, without the standard hood, and have a Tunze 9004 that I like. It sits in the corner of the tank, but needs at least 8 inches of water. Here's a top picture:

In the back chamber I have about 7" of water depth not sure that would be enough looking at the doc 9001 but seeing mixed reviews?

I ran a Tunze 9001 in the middle section. I modified the return section with a piece of plexi so the water level in the center would remain constant... I do have one for sale.

As I already have the tank setup is it a must to do mod to keep water level or is a ato good enough?

I also ran a Tunze ATO but to get the most performance of the skimmer it was easier to place a baffle on the return chamber and run the ATO in the return chamber. Here are some pics of the mods I ran.

Added a filter sock

Changed the return to the top

From the left, IM small media reactor, Pump to a chiller, Tunze 9001, Return from Chiller, ATO.

I loved that tank but it cracked one night, luckily I was just starting a new 34 gallon DSA cube and was able to move the livestock over. I still have most of the parts from the JBJ setup.

I was just up in Surprise last week!
