I'm looking to put lights over my new sump / dual frag tank. I would liek to run halide on one side and T5s on the other (learning about lorotation and growth differences.

the frag tanks are 20 talls ($25 new drilled :) )

The objective is growth, not looks.

for the halide I was thinking a single pendant, any suggestions on wattage and height?

for the T5's how many bulbs should I be looking for?

Note: this is an early build pic - the rest of the sump, pump and electric are in.

thanks!

what are you planning to grow sps lps softies?
that would depending on lighting wanted growth wise 10k you get that nice brown color with good growth t5's I personally do not like them but thats my personal preference.

yes hobbyist tend to stick to more of a bluer < <<if thats a word> color for coral colors you can go with a 10 bulb which will bring growth and supplement with a vho only problem I thing smallest vho is 24 I believe some corals will have good color under 10k most will not and although will be healthy but will be more on the brown side then the blues and pinks and reds ect. t5s
the 10k will only effect the site of the color to our eye the color will still be there but will need antic lighting (blue(to color up for all the nice photos you see on here the bluer color comes from the depth of the coral in the ocean the higher the color the more lower the k rating will be as in 10k at 5 feet verse 20k @ 20 feet not actual depth to bulb color ratio but just to give you an Idea. look at pacific east aquaculture site they grow under natural sun light in a green house or at least they did before.

you can do both on each side sps will grow under t5s right bulb config will be needed for color and not bleaching them and make sure not to bleach and kill the lps and softies under the t5s they are small and mighty lights

what combo do you recomend for growth and color of sps?

I currently have T5s and am struggeling with coloration of sps though growth is great.
