Need help...im pretty new to sps and k ow the general stuff about keeping them..... my thing is im losing color with certain acros... a jf paletta pink tip, vivid rainbow delight, but everything is still encrusting

I have a 40g breeder, most of the sps are at the top any where from 5 to 8 inches below water line... my light are 6 bulb ati t5 about 10 inches from water line...

Parameter are

Temp between 75-77 thru out the day
Mag 1400
Cal 440
Kh 8
Phos 0.01
Nitrate between 5ppm and 10ppm

I manual dose 6ml a day of alk at night
And dose cal only when i test so like twice a week..mag i test every 2 week and doesnt really drop much as i do water change every friday and i also add all 3 fauna marin color trace elements 5ml a week of each

In first pic everything is on right to middle rock on top

2nd pic is when i first got them

3rd pic is now with no blue led

Did you acclimate the coral to your light? If so, how?

Not sure if it is related to your color but what alk additive do you use? Some types need to be dosed in equal parts.

They all were origally on a frag rack about 5 inch lower than they are now and brought up slowly and i use esv kh and cal

I believe that is a 2part system. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. I have always dosed my 2 parts equally so not sure of the effects of not doing so. I believe some people DO dose them unequal though and maybe they can chime in. I doubt this would affect color though. More a curious thing.

Are your corals pale or brown-ish? I can't tell from pics tbh. Pale would lead me to think too much light or not enough nutrients but your Nitrate looks good and many people keep Po4 around .02

How long have the frags been in your tank? Is polyp extension good?

A friend said the same about nutrients and told me to turn my skimmer off for a little cause it was stripping them out

Your nutrients are readable so nothing is being "stripped" especially without carbon dosing. Everything looks fine imo and just looks like they are a little light from being under good light. As long as they don't keep getting paler day by day I would leave the tank alone and not touch a thing.

Parameters are fine. Tank looks pretty sterile without much coralline. How old is everything? If the tank is less than a year old (or so, more if started with dry/dead rock), then expect the colors to be off a bit... quite common.

Not an expert in keeping SPS so you can take this with a grain of salt. I think it definitely has to do with the amount of light that they are getting in your tank. A friend of mine had me start out with mine running solely actinics for a while. I still noticed growth even running actinics only and my colors are pretty good. I haven't done any water changes on the system since removing the sand, but I do dose Red Sea ABCD. Just 5ml a day for each so I don't have to test for it.
