I've had this set up and cycling like this for 6 months. Every so often I ghost feed or add dr.tims ammonia. I've added both stability and biospira over the time. Don't mind the diatoms, it has a small pump for circulation, no sump/skimmer in cabinet yet.

This is the scape I have now. And some extra Marco dry I have. I have about 20lbs more of life rock in a box. I was originally planning on moving my rock in my nano to the empty sand bed area but it's been taken over by GHA so I'll just move the fish a few corals, and anemone.

Is this enough rock?

I have 2 smaller clowns(Wyoming whites), a small watchman goby~2" and a ~2" tailspot blenny. Would eventually like a small yellow Tang, a pygmy possum wrasse, and lawnmower blenny or starry. And maybe a purple firefish. Petco has a real healthy looking yellow tank and purple firefish, Tang has been there for at least 3 months.

Sure...I've seen some gorgeous minimalist tanks. Plus it allows you put some corals directly on sand or add some gorgonians/softies on frag rubble rock on the sand bed as well as really use their height to a ascetic advantage.

If you're worried about the surface area for bacteria...don't. Tanks can run with no/little rock just fine.

I may leave the open sand area for a clam at some point. Or let my toadstool leather occupy the middle of it so it can get huge.

I didn't weigh the rock but assume it's maybe 40lbs plus 30 or so in sand. Is that enough for biological filtration?

I'm just not a very creative type, so asking for input. My current nano is a stack of rocks with a few swim throughs, just trying to avoid that. Is the roughly 40lbs of rock enough?

I think you should do something with the top rock to disguise the straight bottom edge.
