For a tank your size I'd go larger than 1" (1.75 - 2"). Since you're going to have it built out larger than the footprint of the tank I'd get 90 degree brackets and supports around the footprint of the tank for extra piece of mind. That way it'll be sitting on the vertical posts directly under it, not stressing the corner brackets at the far ends of the tank. I'd also check the description of those items. You've got 2020 brackets (metric) and 1010 tubing (imperial), just make sure the brackets will fit the 1010.
I’m still in the process of building my new tank stand, not near done but the process so far started as this 12’Lx2’W glulam beam.![]()
and is now this.

still have staining, sealing and side panels also some more bracing but will be solid.
You could probaly park a car on that thing, but I'm with you on bracing on the bottom. Anything slightly off square on those supports at the bottom will compound over time if that weight isn't applied evenly down both sides (which is likely with moving water in the tank above) and can cause them start sliding in or out over time.Cross beams on the bottom??? It looks like it will hold a ton, but still makes me nervous
Nice. I really like the look of that. I've always thought that butcher block style top would look awesome with a giant tank on it, but ave it elevated up about 1' with about a 2' lip around it to hold the bottles and have the tank serve as a bar back instead of a mirror.Oh yes! More bracing to come. Plus I plan leg bolts through my floor into the “legs” from under my house. There is currently 4 8” leg bolts through the top into the legs from the top. Took the lumber company about 2 months to build the beam, but you can order them in almost any dimensions you want.
It will be peninsula style once it’s in my house. Still lots to be done before that happens but I’ll start a build thread once I get further along. Just thought I would throw out the idea to the OP.Nice. I really like the look of that.
