Tank 36x18x24h. Sps dominant. Would get ghl mitra but don't think the 13x8 size would cover. And two seem overkill. Maybe two ecotech xp15

I love my Mitras, but you are right, they aren't designed for that tank size. The 2 XR15's should work better, or even a pair of kessils.

Since it'll be sps dominant I'd say go with the ecotechs. The spectrum and brightness control is second to none and there are plenty of sps tanks that are seeing huge success using them, see sanjay's sps masterpiece.

Thanks guys. I considered giesemann verve but again they don't fit well and two there would be wasted overkill. Also looking at ai hydra 52, maybe two of them would work. I like the aurora from giesemann but $1800. Is crazy

Are you wanting LED only or open to T5 or a T5 / LED hybrid?

For a 36" inch tank (if you're open to T5's), a 6 bulb T5 ATI fixture should be perfect. Add some LED strips on each side if you want some LED shimmer to go along with the T5's. You'll be able to grow any SPS you want with no problems.

I have LED's and T5's and keep mostly SPS. LED's are sexy and cool, but if I could go back and do things over, I'd stick with just T5 and only use some supplemental actinic / purple / deep blue LED's to add shimmer and use for dawn / dusk ramp up and down. Nothing wrong with LED's, though. Just take some extra time and look at people's tanks and see what look you prefer.

Thanks everyone. I went with ecotech xr15 pro. Small form factor, good neat mounting system. Will be a clean install, no wires to ceiling or sticking outsides of fixture. Will get them next week. Thanks everyone here, and BRS for doing great videos.

I have GHL's and love them. There is no such thing as over kill when it comes to adding pendent LED lights. You basically just dial it back if its too much. Its always better to have more than you need than not enough. JMO. Especially with LED's. When you get bigger tank if you have a little more than you need.... you will just need less of them. LOL.

The Kessel's are nice as well. Oh and the Geismen are a beautiful light. you could go hybrid if you like.

Personally I like pendents and Kessel's the best. They will go with any aquarium. You basically just need more or less of them depending on size of aquarium, no matter what aquarium you have. Easy to accommodate if you change aquarium size or want more or less light.

You really cant go wrong with your choices.
