so I have been thronging this idea around in my head for a few years now. I would like a nano RFA tank with sexy shrimp, pom pom crabs and maybe a cpl small fish couch build.

my main build of the RS reefer 750XXL is in limbo for the last 6 months. new tank setting there as we might end up moving. found out a few months after getting it

anyway I need/want a sweet little nano that is:

easy on the eyes as well as the wallet

fun and enjoyable

peninsula style tank not in to the cubes

I do have a 10 and 20L but I am more in to the rimless look + the 20L is a bit long for the stand I was thinking. ( but if anyone knows of a nice 30" stand (maybe ikea) I am all ears.

so that leaves me with a few options.

option 1: use my RS 750 ATO res its 7.5 gall rimless but it is on the thin side. with a HOB filter I have a heater and maybe a kessil a80 or aquamaxx prism light. and a power head the cheapest option. but more "stuff" in the tank.

option #2 fluval Evo 13.5 almost the same foot print as above but gives a bit more height to the tank. not so sure on the lighting I hear its a 10K look but would grow RFA just fine. ( any thoughts on that?) I like the look with lid but might need to upgrade the lighting anyway. if I upgrade the pump and add a RFG I might get away with out a PH in the DT?? I like the AIO aspect here with a few mods it could be a great little tank.plus if I could use the lid it would keep cat hare out of the DT!

option #3 for about 25ish more I could get the IM 14 pro bundle with the upgraded pump and media basket. about the same foot print as above but it look odd to me I would so love the IM 20 over the 14 but then there is lighting and stand and before you know it you are 500+ into it.

option #4 UNS 60U 24x15x14 20 gal with a canister filter and inline heater something I have been wanting to try. but then you have to find a place for the equipment so as mush as I like the idea might not be the best at this point.

so what are you nano guys thoughts. open to other options as well. NO LFS so everything is mail order so free shipping is a big plus.

A lot of people have killer Evo tanks. A lot of people have nice IM tanks. I think most of the quality AIO tanks are pretty nice. Just comes down to shape, size, and price.

You mentioned you had a 20g but like rimless. Why not a fusion 20 then?

My suggestion will be IM Nuvo shallow, couple of a160 or ai prime , mp10, aquamax 115 hob skimmer, jaeger Hester (or any reputed brand ), smart ato micro, Bare bottom, with live rock :-)

yes lots of IM and evo tanks for sure!
well the IM 20 was and is still my 1st choice, however as this is not my main build not sure I want to spend $300on a tank + lighting is a PITA or just another $420 for 2 AI primes...

I believe the Im14 is out dont really like the shape. had to make some cuts somewhere so if in doubt...

but I added the lifegard aquatics 14.6 to the list :/ has a nice foot print of 24x12x12 but not to much info on it + it come in under a $100 so I like that.

What kind of lighting are you going for on the Red Sea 750???

My suggestion would have been the Nuvo 20 Peninsula. Stunning Nano just like the rest of IMs line :)

if you would be interested in a Mr. Aqua 7.5 gal bow front, ive got a very nice one for sale. only used for a month as a breeding tank

what IM shallow are you thinking? something like the 25?

The 25 you could do and would look real sharp. You can also grab the EXT line and have a sump, possibly being able to use some equipment you already have with your 750. Might be ridiculous to use a sump for a 160 gallon tank on a 25 gallon. But it's totally doable and the light would definitely work on it!

thanks but I want a peninsula + the shipping would be more than the tank..lol
do like the mr.aqua tho.

oo yes peninsulas are nice as well! and that is probably true about shipping. lol. I would highly recommend mr aqua if they make a peninsula tank

He could always get a Mr. Aqua 22 Gallon long and drill the one end of it for an overflow. I'll have to scrounge around for a thread with a VERY beautiful version of just this.

I do love the mr aqua 22 but that is just to big. this is supposed to be a sneak it by the GF side project. haha

well the cheapest option and maybe smartest as I have many empy tanks in the house is just use the Red sea ATO res, with a HOB filter. but the glass is on the thin side I worry about it.
