I have been really racking my brain trying to figure out which anthias to get. I am getting 3 and I love the lyretail anthias because of their cool colors but I hear such negative things about their temperament. I have had bartletts in the past and they are nice until they fade and ugh do they fade...

A friend of mine who is a vendor is trying to talk me into Hawaiian BiColor and they look ok, not terribly exciting. Very similar to bartletts. Anyone else have any other suggestions for less aggressive type of colorful anthias? Seems they all have an attitude lol.

Thanks in advance!

Bimac anthias are among my favorites. Hardy and colorful.

Randalls and dispars have more peaceful temeraments and are relatively peaceful.

Flavoguttatus and smithvanezi are more delicate, but quite pretty.

I concur on bimacs, though males will fade over time. They need space though. Smithies/princess are really shy and don't do well in a typical community tank.

Smithvanizi is pretty, but I would recommend against them and every species in that complex if it's your first foray with Anthias.
