Ok, time to get the Nano. Well time to decide which Nano, then get the Nano.

I've got a list. I haven't found a good used setup that I really want that screams grab me, so just thinking of going new.

Plans - Mixed Reef (Grow out tank). Get smaller frags, they will go into the nano first, once they grow out into small colonies, then they'll join the Waterbox.
No Skimmer, Nutrient control will be done by a WC every Friday. 30-50%. Media Basket will contain Filter Floss, Chemi Pure, And something in the 3rd to be determined. Either a filter sock or a fuge, depends on the tank. Lighting is going to depend on which Nano.

My ideal Nano was the Waterbox 20 Cube Plus Edition which means it had the AI Prime. This is sold out everywhere and I mean everywhere, I called Waterbox direct and they told me they were getting a shipment in June but all were already spoken and paid for. So like Late July. So yea....No.

The List:

Fluval Evo 13.5g - This one interests me, I like the look, don't care for the lighting, plus its also like sold out everywhere.

BioCube 16g LED - I really like this one and its a strong contender, from what I've read the Stock LED lights have come along ways and I may not have to upgrade them which would be AMAZING. Don't really want to buy a $200 AI Prime.
BioCube 32g LED - Same thing, but just don't think I want to go this big.

Innovative Marine 10 - I don't know why, but this one doesn't really look that great to me.

IM 14g Penn - Pretty much on par with Fluval 13.5 Evo that I can see. Same thing with Lighting.

IM 20 Fusion - Like this one, just lighting.

Waterbox Cube 10 Plus (comes with AI Prime) - I can get this one, can't get the 20, but I can get this one for about $370, that includes the AI Prime. Just don't know if its big enough? I know I'm going Nano, but this is a cube 10g, so not sure how thats going to limit.

Obviously price ranges differently, especially if we start talking about lighting. Flow is probably going to be something like a Hydor or the new Aquamai or something (looks really cool powerhead, wanna try it). Probably put a 1.0 Sicce Silent for a return pump in any of these.

As I said the BioCube 16 LED is probably at the top IF, BIG IF the stock LED lighting would be good enough.

Thoughts?

The biocube 32 doesn't really take up much space if that is your concern. The stock LEDS are ok on them but You can get some decent lights on amazon for less than $150 if you wanted to upgrade them.

PS. I have personally had the nuvo 20 and evo 13.5 and worked with a 16g biocube if you have questions on those specifically.

Nah its not that it takes up space, I just didn't really want to go over 20g. And I don't want to upgrade the lights at all to be honest. especially on the biocube cause they are inside that hood. If the 16g could grow mixed reef, I'd be happy. Just put any sps right at the top in the middle.

I have several tanks including the IM 10g - I like it's flexibility for upgrading. IMO I would prefer the IM tanks over the Fluval and BioCubes. Additionally, IMO the Waterbox tanks are very nice - if you have the patience I would really consider waiting on the Waterbox 20. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Oh I KNOW. I have a Waterbox 100.3 right now. LOVE IT. I don't have the patience for the 20g tho. One BIG reason Im even getting this is to have something to tinker with while the Waterbox 100.3 matures. I plan on going KP Aquatics Live rock for the Nano, so Instant cycle.

Also, reason I've been shying away from the IM tanks isn't because of quality or anything, its that I'd have to add lighting to them. Really ups the budget lol. Whereas like the biocube comes with the light. Just don't know if "said" light is really good enough. I just dont want to spend $200 on a AI Prime to run it at 20%, feel like its such a waste.

True, but purchased lights would let you grow whatever corals you choose in contrast to the built in lights on some of the others. You may want to consider the Noopsyche light for nano tanks which is still high quality with a lower price.

Hmm ok, I've literally never heard of that Light. I will do my research on that sir!

This will also give you the link so you can check out the light. I was introduced to the company at MACNA and RAP last year and was impressed with the construction.

Out of those 3, which did you like best?

I like the evo light more but the biocube comes with a media rack which is nice. The IM 20 had pretty glass though and was bigger. Also, is there something with your waterbox that you have that you are not getting out of it that one of these tanks would accomplish? My thinking is that you could spend this money on your bigger tank instead of a whole new smaller tank that would increase your workload.

I just want a Nano and something to tinker with while waiting on the Big Tank to mature. Bout the only reason.
