I am getting ready to add a CUC to my new 10 gallon Waterbox nano.

Here are a list of inverts I love:
- Hermits
- Nassarius snails
- Pincushion urchins
- Emerald Crabs

1) I'd like a snail that'll clean rocks more (not sandbed like nassarius), any suggestions?
2) Is an emerald crab a good option?
3) I feel my tank may be a bit small for a pincushion. Thoughts?
4) Does anyone have shrimp that they like (THAT DON'T PICK FOOD OUT OF CORALS MOUTHS)?

THANKS!

Cerith and dwarf Cerith snails are great

Crabs are opportunistic and cannot be trusted. This goes for emeralds and hermits. Porcelain crabs are the exception (they technically aren't even crabs)

If a shrimp sees food it'll eat it. That being said they aren't so bad. Sometimes a cleaner or fire shrimp will take my corals food. No big deal, just gotta feed it again

awesome! Thoughts on trochus snails? Also, I have both fire and cleaner shrimp in my 105 and they are such little pests when it comes time to feed corals! So for now, no shrimp in the nano, Haha!! I’ve never had issues with hermits, but good to know!! Thanks for the awesome feedback!!

I've only ever owned a couple of trochus snails so I'm not sure how great of cleaners they are but they reproduce well in reef tanks, you can go wrong with free, sustainable clean up crew!

I recently added my first trochus snail to my 20 gallon and this sucker is swift at cleaning the diatoms that sprouted after adding a piece of live rock along w my frags. My glass has never been cleaner thanks to him. Nassarius are my favorite tho, cuz of there little noodle looking trunk that sticks out the sand. Fun to watch.

Awesome! I think I'm going to go with some trochus and nassarius snails! I also LOVE nassarius snails. They're so cute when they just rise out of the sandbed!

  1. Trochus snails, hands down.
  2. Emeralds... I have them and so far they have been doing a lot of work.
  3. Pincushion might get a little big for your tank.
  4. Can't report on the shrimp since I don't have any. Fire shrimp are supposed be a good option though.

Thanks! I've heard great things about trochus and thanks for the advice on emerald crabs!
