Okay. So I’m getting really close to upgrading my tank and I can’t decide which direction to go. I’ve got it narrowed down to 4 different tanks.

Option 1- doing a planet aquariums 310 gallon display with their stand 96”x30”x25 and bashsea pro sump

Option 2- Cade 2100 234 gallon display
82.6”x29.52”x25.5

Option 3- Waterbox 340.7 240 gallon display 86.6"x29.5"x25.6”

Option 4- Redsea Reefer 1000S2 210 gallon display 82.6”x26.7”x25.5”

I’ve talked myself into and out of each of those options a hundred times, but can’t seem to commit to one. Each have their own pros and cons

I don't have any personal experience with the others but I have nothing but good words about my Waterbox Aquarium. The aquarium quality is great and dealing with the company was straightforward and reassuring.
I personally will be going back with this company in the future.

Custom another option. Get it exactly how it best fits your needs. Waterbox offers that option and I believe so does Planet.

Would it be easy to put a reefmat in their sumps?

love waterbox, they're tax free for me. But i would go with something that has a brace for that amount of water.

I think the only one that isn’t braced is the Cade. I’m guessing you live in Florida?

Just doing a quick review of the aquariums. My advice would be the following.

1. No matter which aquarium. I would make sure I had an aluminum stand.
2. I have never owned a red sea tank, but I see threads every now and then complaining of failures. I would look into this thoroughly before you keep it on the list.

Good luck with your choice.

Planet or Cade.

I have the 340xl it arrived in Feb. I got rid of their sump. I got rid of all their plumbing I could. Had a custom sump built. If I had to do it all over again I would go custom. Tank is amazing. Stand is well built. Plumbing and sump is terrible. I have finally finished plumbing. I have my apex wired in. I have my saltwater mixing station built holding water and everything run to tank for complete automation ATO and water changes. I have hydros running the mixing station and apex running the tank. I went with rollermat from Red Sea. Regal 250ss protein skimmer. Return pump abyzz. Still trying to figure out how to install my uv so that it returns to tank and not sump. Most likely will set it up in garage pipe it in since tank sits on garage wall. I don’t want clutter. Hope this helps

That is helpful. The sump setup was one of my “cons” for the Waterbox, but they do have beautiful tanks.

I do have a Planet Aquarium after my recent Red Sea explosion. The Planet Aquarium stand was way more stout than the Red Sea. Most boards are two if not three times thicker in areas with the almost same water volume of tank on top of it. I cannot remember what type of wood it is made of, I believe they said Maple. If needed I can take pictures of the Planet Aquarium stand showing the thickness of the wood, it is rather impressive.

Also the Planet Aquarium stand covers the entire dimensions of the tank, the Red Sea tank would hang over in areas.

Yep, it is maple.

Would you mind?

So this is basically the sides that hold the door on and also partial support for the tank above it, notice it is two pieces of plywood together.

I have no doubt how strong the stand is, there will be no dipping like there was on my Red Sea. The center support is also 1.5 inches thick

I’m assuming all dimensions would fit into where you’re wanting to place it. Personally I like the dimensions of the planet aquariums tank and have good experiences with them in the past. I cannot speak personally on Cade or waterbox but I have heard good things about water box (they seem to be on the pricier side but hey you get what you pay for right )
