I have a 20g tall, sps dominated reef and a 5000l/hr powerhead .....
So it works with careful placement, but you know .... something moves and all is in dismay

As you can see .... montys, acros, psama, discosomas+ricordeas, toadstools & pocillopora, zoas, leptoseris + leptostrea, lots to deal with ....
What should I do to upgrade powerhead/s?
Wave maker/s? One? Two? Wide? Narrow?
All I know is id like something with the electronics outside, magnetic, and somehow controllable (optimally w/ light (50w nicrew hyperreef))
Any help would be great!

The only one with electronics outside is the vortech MP10.

Two.

The wetsides don't last as long as I'd like for the price.

Otherwise if you don't mind wires in the tank... lots of options..

Nero
Jebao
Tunze

Are some of the more common ones. Use two powerheads.

I think you're better off going with more, cheaper powerheads than one expensive one. You're able to produce better, more random flow with several points of flow.

I mean ... I can definitely deal with wires. Id like not to but if it makes more sense I'd be a fool not to imo

Just depends what you want to spend. Only one powerhead offers all the electric stuff outside and that is the MP10. Cost is $340 per though so it's likely your most expensive option.

Yeah thats certainly higher than I was planning.
I was trying to spend the best $200 i could honestly

The other options will work fine too. Just will have wires/electrical in the tank.

Nero 3 is $165 (only one of these 3 that are controllable with phone app via bluetooth)
Jebao sow-4 $53 (this is the Chinese knock-off type)
Tunze nanostream $160 (the one with controller)

I would use two powerheads but you could get a more expensive one and one cheaper one. Like a Nero + Jebao to meet your price point better.

It is just easier to get flow correct with two powerheads.

For $200 you could get one Nero 3 (~$150) and one Jebao OW-10 (~$60). Or get two OW-10's. The Nero has an app that provides great customization and the jebao comes with a wavemaker controller.

Either way you'll have two points of flow and can get wave action and random flow. Plus both could be used in a future larger tank.
