I got this wonderful tank set up two weeks ago, previous owner said it just popped up and she didn't know the type of coral.. It puffs up when it eats an has short tentacles, thought it was a type of maze coral but the color looks more like a candy cane coral..... also about 4 fan worms near it, will that mess with its growth?? I much rather have the coral than them!! Thanks for your help!! :1) my first tank official salt water tank and I'm in love with it and all the learning to go with!

It makes since if it's lobo when feeding my maze coral I feed it some brine shrimp an it went crazy eating it but I couldn't video an feed at the same time considering I was standing on a chair just to get my arm in the tank..

I can't help you with the name, but I did get 2 like that on my live rock. They both started out a little hard dark purple. I put 1 towards the top of the tank and one towards the bottom. The one up top seem to do better so I moved them both up. One of mine turn into a bright bright green. The other one stayed more like yours with that purple stripe which seemed to turn more of a translucent color as it got bigger. They are definitely two Center points of my tank.

At night, the polyps extend a lot. It took a couple of months to get from the hard "nubs" to nice and fluffy. Please be careful moving up. Just because mine did good doesn't mean every ones will. One thing I have learned is every tank is different. Even under same lights, some corals react different because of water or other variables. DISCLAIMER!! I am still a noob. [emoji51]
Wow yours looks awesome, I had moved my around the other day trying get a stupid damsel, and it's on the bottom and I've not seen it so perky! Just fed it today and I've noticed it's now seems twice the size! I have a lot of waves up top, like I think it's to much for my clownfish but they seem to be traveling the current .. anyway I feed my coral today oh and the name is rose coral..
