Help me get a Tang

What sort of tang are you looking for? How big is your tank? 1" is small for a tang, most grow much larger and will outgrow lots of tanks. The kole tang is a good smaller tang that should work in around 70 gallons. A yellow tang can squeak by in a 120. What are your goals with the tang?

Well... really any nice color tangs, and its for my IM 20g thats why im trying to get it so small. Also i know tangs are not supposed to be in a small tank like this, but its my choice... I've seen tangs in such smaller tanks aswell. Really my goals with the tang is just to put in my tank right now til i get a red sea 250, and just put him in there when i'm ready.

Honestly, I'd wait until the new tank is cycled and ready for a tang and put it in the big tank. Putting a tang in a 20 gallon tank isn't a great choice as they grow very quickly with proper space and diet.

Oh my I dislike reading post like this. When someone says its only temporary and when I get a bigger tank set up, I'll move it to there. UGH. If you do this, I'd expect to see another thread by the OP asking for help with a sick dying fish. Its' your choice though, to each its own I suppose.

I wouldn't recommend putting a tang in a 20 gal either. A 1" tang is a small juvenile and will grow very very quickly till it reaches about 3-4inches. There is also the issue of feeding. These fish are constant grazers in the wild and require a substantial amount of food. Probably too much of a bioload for a 20 gal IM to handle. It isn't worth the headache and the possible tank crash. Just wait until you have a larger tank and do more research for now until you are ready. I'll be honest, tangs can be very difficult animals to keep.
