Hey guys and gals
Im looking for inspiration to get back into reefing after my crash as i keep getting an itch but its easily scratched so im asking you people who have quit and started up again what was your reason or inspiration to start again, was just one thing or a multitude of things.
You quit for a reason so what changed enough for you to get back into reefing?

If you don't know whether or not you want to get back in the hobby, I have grave doubts that any of us can help you. You already know how much time it takes up and how expensive it can be... not to mention how frustrating it can be.

It's all on you.

Thanks for the inspiration.
Im looking more for what finally made those that quit the hobby go back to it at a later date.

After my divorce life got in the way of keeping a tank. I developed other hobbies to keep my mind busy and after an achilles injury and surgery those hobbies are off the table for some time. Now I am trying to get back into the hobby. To what degree will be determined by the house I close on next month. It will either be epic (four figure DT size) or a small 65g in the living room. Either way it is to help keep my mind occupied and help me relax (when it isn't causing a panic attack).

My reason to get back in is life has finally allowed me the opportunity and I need an outlet. I'm excited and nervous.

We each have to decide on our own as to what the "why" is but in my life I find myself coming back to the same things routinely. The outdoors, dogs, running/riding, and aquariums. If it is something you keep coming back to in your mind then it is definitely worth exploring.

What size was the tank that crashed? Maybe go for something smaller or more simple like a fowlr to test the waters.

I had a 425xl so if i get back into it thats the size i would have as i enjoyed the size and it fit perfectly where it was.
I did have a 10x3x3 but that never got off the ground. I still have my Discus tank but keep getting the urge for a reef tank but then it goes away, not for any particular reason, its difficult to explain.

If that were me (and it might be) I think I would start simple and in a way that would let me progress to a reef. FOWLR with reef safe fish, then add some easier corals, and see where it goes. Make it enjoyable rather than stressful.

I remeber when you had your problem good to see you wanting to get back.
I’d watch a video on someone setting up a new tank even tho I have a few it always gets my juices going for another ,in fact I was watching a Red Sea 750 this morning and if I manage to buy the house I Rent next that’s the first thing on my shopping list

Maybe, I know what equipment i would want, what fish i want etc so its going to be straightforward to set up but i think at the back of my mind i fear losing everything again, although what i lost last time was more a personal issue than just a livestock loss.
I will keep watching and listening to people and hopefully i will be able to scratch the itch.

Its not the stress, i enjoy setting up a tank and everything to go with it, the only thing i found stressful was when i bought into GHL but thats another story.
So if i start again it will be full blown.

The call of the salt is strong...
