Hey guys! I'm new to the forums here, so I apologize if this isn't the correct place to post this.

I need help ID-ing a couple things that have popped up in my nano tank recently:

The first one is some sort of anemone looking thing. It's round with tentacles that are pink & purple and blue. It's pretty. Looks like cotton candy.

The second one is some kind of circle pod. It's coming out of a tube and is green with red around the circle.

I've looked everywhere and I cannot figure these out! They were hitch hikers, and I'm hoping they're good guys. :D thanks!

Not sure about the first, maybe some sort of aptasia or anemone. But the second are button polyps. Under ideal conditions they will spread quickly.

I think the first one is a Corynactis(strawberry anemone) and the second one is just a tube worm or feather duster if your talking about the red little pipe? Could be a few different things but need a pic with it out of the tube to be 100%

Incredible! How could a strawberry (jewel) anemone survive in my 78° reef aquarium? :eek:Typically this species desire cooler temperatures and low flow. My specimen is located at the top of my lr, right next to high flow. Amazing.

I agree, the other guys must be button polyps. How cool! I guess I lucked out with these hitchhikers! :D Thank you for your help!

Idk? But i've have them in my tank before and if left unattended to long they can multiple quite a bit. I ended up getting rid of mine but it was a pita...
I did have another fellow reefer ask me for one before and she knew what they were. So I guess some people do like them.

If your really lucky it's a baby plate coral in the first pic I have seen them come out of rocks like a that a few times . Very cool experience

I think it's a really gorgeous and welcome addition to my nano aquarium for sure. I really hope it spreads quickly! It looks so nice in there already!

I hope it's a lucky break! This lr has been a pita with aiptasia everywhere on the bottom half so this will really make that headache all worthwhile if its true! I wonder if I could make some $ by fragging them if they do end up spreading around? I won't count my chickens before they hatch, though! I am pleased with just one of these guys! :D thanks for the response.
