Help me install my overflow box :)

Hi I’m a trying to install my Fiji cube overflow box and I’m a little confused it came with a template and i want my water level to be hidden by the black trim on my tank how does this look ?only problem is now the Template doesn’t sit against the glass but I can cut it

If this is a rimmed aquarium, put the template on the inside of the tank and drill from the inside out, that way the template sits flat, and you're able to see where your water level will be under the trim

The other thing I've done is to put the template on the inside to locate where you want to drill. Using a Sharpie marker, trace the hole. Now bring the template/drill guide to the outside of the tank and turn it upside down so the tank trim doesn't interfere with lining up the hole. I then use a little plumber's putty under the guide and also lightly clamp the guide down and duct tape around the guide as well. Now you can drill from the outside.

It looks like the back has already been painted though. Unless they cut away the paint, starting a glass drill bit in paint may mess with the cutting

Can you just slide the template under the trim on the tank? There is usually some space before you hit the silicone. That should give you the waterline above the bottom of the trim
