I’ve been in the game a long time but I cannot For the life of me figure out why my SPS won’t color up. Growing fine. Seems to stay a dull pastel hue.

120gal, 2 radion gen 2 pros running Ecotech Coral Lab Phoenix program at about 25%. Running 1 kessil AP700 running at 45% in center closer to deep ocean blues. T5s fore and aft. Blue plus x 2 on 7 hrs. Actinic and purple plus on x 3 hours midday.

Circulation 2 MP40s, return is Vectra M1.

Feed rods 3 x week
PE Mysis daily

Purple, yellow, tomini tang
Cherub Angel
Flame hawk
2x platinum clowns

Refugium Kessil H380 on overnight

Looks like the tank is starving? Low phosphates? Still have some nuisance algae in display so I’ve been avoiding broadcasting reef chili or reef roofs or anything like that.

Any feedback on what you see below is appreciated.

If I could make a suggestion.... my ICP test looked very similar to yours. My corals were all just green and weren’t growing well. I took a look at the Red Sea Colors program and decided to try it. I also purchased the test kits. About a month after using it, Coral growth took off and I now have pink, purple, blue, red, and green. I highly recommend this stuff. It’s been a game changer for me.

It’s definitely not cyano. It’s a green mat that doesn’t blow off. Can’t pick it off very easily. Tuxedo urchin is working on it but I don't Want to fuel it with unneeded organics.

I agree The test doesn’t look bad at all. I was Hoping for something glaring and weird I could Key in on.

If you only is interested of "to much of" - it looks very good - but if you are interested of having a good water for your animals – look at their advises – at least according to the most important compounds. IMO – the P result is to low.

Right, I agree Lasse!

How do I bump that up without fueling an algae bloom. Feed more often?

I use to add some KH2PO4. Preparing i litre of RO water with 4.3 gram KH2PO4, 1 ml of this in 100 l aquarium water rise the PO4 with around 0.03 ppm. Food grade or lab grade KH2PO4

IMO. It is somehowe a myth that algae will take over if you rise the nutrient levels. It will for sure if you do not have any CUC or a too small CUC. But it will do that whatever your nutrient level is if you do not have any grazers and you fuel (IMO) cyano and dinos instead. IMO it is better to have a good CUC that eat all produced algae. And in large aquariums - tangs is the best CUC ever. If you look at my build thread - you will see an aquarium that have 0.15 ppm PO4 and around 8 ppm NO3 - no algae take over - but a lot of CUC :)

Sincerely Lasse
