I'm hoping someone can help me home-in my dosing. I currently have a waterbox 7225 peninsula with a Neptunes Trident and Dos.
How do I figure my daily alk/cal consumption? I'm currently dosing 10 ml a day via DOS and ultimately want Trident to control dosing.

My current salt is Brightwell Neomarine and would like to keep ALK parameters close to mixing parameters (7.6).

As above, test alk and calc each day at the same time and work out consumption rate. Then use your products online calculator to work out a daily dose as a starting point based on your consumption. Then test each day for a week or so and adjust your dose so you match consumption. Then test 1 or 2 times a week to check you have stability and apply fine tune adjustments to your doser as necessary.

Also, you may want to water down your 2 part solutions with RO water. I water down 4 to 1 which I find makes it easier to be more precise when dosing and also minimises disaster should your dosing pump fail and decides to dump it all in :)

I did a setting for you to copy :
Here is your auto dosing setting based on 10ml 2 part dosing

Thought I read nightmares of people controlling their dos with a trident.

One thing that I've just started doing with my dos is instead of dosing equal amounts throughout the day, or even allowing it to dos less at night, I've made intervals that start at one trident test and then run until the next trident test. Then if I notice a trend at certain times of the day (which I do) I can adjust the dosage for the interval before that trident test. I still allow for controlled dosing, but I find I'm getting more consistent reading when I setup different intervals with different doses that match what my tank needs.

It's not too bad because when you set it up you tell it how much to dose and then it can only increase/decrease the dosage by a certain percentage which you set. It will also have a high and low level that if a test reads beyond either of those limits it will go back to your default dosage.

Agreed

This is done! Should I set my Trident to test 6x or is the 4x sufficient?
If I were you I would do 8 times for the first few days until I see all the numbers consistent with what you set them up to be. Then you can go back down to 4 afterwards

Also do me a favor and test your Alk and Calcium with Hanna checkers if you have them or Salifert to confirm the trident #s match.

I had to recalibrate my trident with tank water a week ago as it was way off after testing it against 3 other test results.

Curious, being a non trident user. Every day this is removing a specific amount of water from the tank. Your ato is then replenishing this with fresh water. Eventually your sg will be off since you are sorta doing half of an auto water change. How much does the trident remove on a daily basis?

Great question! Yes trident will draw water to wast but not enough to change salinity in a 2 weeks span. I was testing 8 times a day and my salinity didn't move from 35ppm till I decided to do a mini water change. 5 gallons in 2 weeks just to be in the safe side.
