Closing on a new house -

always thought i would make a fish room and get a proper full on structure built -
but the way it stands today - i am finding it hard to figure out where to make a fish room.

Attached is the floor plan for the first floor of the house.
The RED rectangle is where i so far have figure out where to put the tank. But i really really wanted to make a peninsula tank... but i dont know where to put it.

suggestions please? would love ideas on what i can do - i am sure there are guys here more creative than i am.

So again - the question is -
where can i put a peninsula tank - even with no fish room - (although a fish room would be great)
willing to do some construction work if needed.

Desired tank dimensions - 72 x 30 x 22

I see 2 easy options off the bat, move the tank to the west wall of the living room and eat up a chunk of that walk in closet as a fish room and plumb a floor drain into what you already have for your master bath. The other option is the east wall of the breakfast nook with fish room in the garage. Minimal renovation for both.

Looks like you have a breakfast room and bar to kitchen. A dining room is redundant!

Make a center return pedestal tank in the middle of your new fish room. Your welcome.

Would love the first one to work - but that will require a regular front facing tank... a peninsula will stick out too much in the middle of the room to put chairs around it. no?

the second option would work for a peninsula - and may end up doing that - although i would have loved to stay in the main living area - since thats the most visible for showing off the tank. lol

thanks so much - wife got a chuckle out of that suggestion...
an evil one - as in if she is saying to me - IN YOUR DREAMS SUCKER! lol

Well a man's got to try.

The only other suggestion is to ditch the TV. No one has a corner CRT any more. Hang an OLED on the wall that is next to the bedroom. Then make a peninsula in that center walk through area.

I'm fairly certain that's a fireplace and not a CRT. lol But I like your thinking.

I think that the first option might work with chairs, just not on the narrow face of the peninsula. According to the room dimensions you would still have a +/- 5'-0" walkway between the tank and wall and if centered, over 6' on each side. You could even cheat the tank to the north a little to make the narrow side of the tank visible from the entry hall and dining room. A few chairs would be able to fit on each side of the tank with a reasonably sized tv on the south east wall allowing for relaxation and fish watching.

That's a great spot bud. Easily accessible to show as well. Sometimes somewhere more private like your bedroom is not a good idea
