I am new to Neptune, I love the control and all the data, but the learning curve has me struggling to maintain my patience. Can someone please help me out with a quick question here?

Setting up an auto water change. So I got all my lines run, mounted the DOS, calibrated with cups of water, etc. Now I go to connect the pumps to my waste line, that is maybe 25 feet long to a basement drain, and the line will not connect to the fitting?! Does this company need me to use a specific 1/4 inch tube? Is that 1/4 inch fitting that unique that my black BRS 1/4 poly tubing wont slide on and form a seal?

Minutes from a meltdown. I mean, do I need to spend another $10 on an adapter, or heat up the tubing with a hair dryer, or what? Can anything work out of the box or am I just having a Sunday morning-10-minute- job-taking-an-hour, moment.

/thanks for your help, or letting me know that I am just crazy.

You could try heating up the tubing and sliding it on but you need to make sure the tubing your using isn’t ‘brittle’ or anything that might lead to issues with leakage.

Also that when it contracts and cools it actually seals

Place the supplied gray tube connectors over your 1/4" tubing
Heat the tip of the 1/4" ro tubing with a lighter, not too close, you want it soft.
Set the tube over the nipple of the dos head.
Tighten gray fitting.
Down side to this is to get the gray connectors off the line you'll have to cut the line.
(another forum member shared this method w me, worked great)

Other option
Buy John guest quick connect to fpt fittings (online retailers sell)
Possible downsides of those is they don't always create an air tight seal and your system may not draw water.

Dude. Thank you. Tried the mrs. hair dryer and it must not apply enough heat. The lighter trick seems to have done it. Not easily pulling off and not seeing air bubbles in the line.

The advice people share in here keeps me alive. Can't put a price on tips and tricks like this. thanks again

On to programming and running the first change. fingers crossed.

Tank volume * 6% (this is optimal percent for awc)
Take that value and divide by 7
Head to Google and take that value and convert it from gallons to ml's
Enter that into dos.
