ok i got rid of the sea clone skimmer i had on my 75 put it on a 10 lol but i purchased an aqualife support sytems skimmer i have a slightly stronger pump on it but has any one herd anything about these and or had one

i've heard about them a little bit....

What model did you get? Is it part of one of their sumps?

I'll help out anyway spossible, but i'm not sure what your questions was or what you need help with from your post.

Brandon

i bought it because it was the largest my sump would hold with the return and everything else hooked up but i just want to know if i just bought another seaclone in the works so to say im just fed up with buying equipment thats not up to par i have a room full lol

I know they sell them at the Aquarium in knoxville and i've only recently had personal experience with one when helping another member with his fathers tank.

From that one experience alone I can't recommend it, but i think the skimmer was fine the pump on the one I saw just wasn't creating enough bubbles....

Hope that helps.

yeah we used allot stronger of a pump and it seems to be doing alright hopefully once i get the new stand stained and sealed and back up i can get some one over to give me a few other opions

Brandon is talking about my dad's tank. But really, let's talk about his mom's tank.

Like Brandon said, my dad has one of those skimmers, and it seems to be very finicky. I talked to my dad on the phone today, he said in the past week the skimmer produced about 1/4" of coffee skimmate and it's still pushing a good amount of foam. Sometimes, however, it seems to go months without any skimmate until you adjust something and it goes crazy again. His nitrates are off the charts, literally. Although this is most likely due to his use of a trickle filter for many years, I can't imagine the randomly functioning skimmer has helped- DOC are DOC. I personally don't like the skimmer, if nothing else, b/c the brand isn't distributed widely enough to have any real feedback, good or bad, to get an idea of the brand's performance. I would stick with brands that are tested, either by a wider market or an experienced reefer you trust.

Is your skimmer in an established tank?
Just curious- do you speak as much German as your name implies?

no none at all actually lol but yeah my tank has been up for almost 2 years the first year buying horrible equipment from pet care warehouse ( they said would be more than enough ) that was about 6 months then i found out about bermuda fifth day reef 2 reef and started to learn quikly i needed better equipment so i put the old H.O.T magnums in the store room (found out neither was actually setup explains allot of the first algea problems i had) upgraded to s 30 gal sump and once the new stand is done ill be adding a 35 gal tank that i added baffels to for a refugium. i have one mag 7 running now and soon to be a second for the refug. and of course the skimmer( which is a lil ticky but i add top off water every day so i just make adjustments when neccasry )and after i get this done im going to put some good lights on it i plan on 2x250 watt metal halide and get rid of my power compacts( also one of those this will be more than you will ever need to keep anything you want) what a joke. all my lps zoa's and softies seem to be doing good not allot of growth but sum. anything else you want?need to know just ask im trying to learn as much as possible lol.

Hmm, sounds pretty good. If you are going all out, I'd suggest also getting an auto-top-off. Tunze makes a good one. I just put my top-off water in a five gallon bucket that runs into the sump. This has made life much much easier, and I am certain the stability has benefited my aquarium inhabitants.

Sounds like you have a great set up in the make. How many gallons is your main tank?

almost 100 gal right now closer to 140 after i add the refug and ive been considering a top off just unsure if ill have room under the tank lol
