I currently have a Fluval evo 13.5 gal tank and my stocking list includes-
2 ocellaris clownfish
1 yellow clown goby
1 scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp
1 porcelain crab
3 sexy shrimp
Now, I want to add a final fish to my tank and I want it to be-
1. Personable and dog-like
2. Reef safe
3. Easy to care for

Thanks for your help! CHEERS!!!

Midas blenny checks off all three of those things, or maybe a bangai cardinal.

Also, how big are your sexy shrimp? I got one sexy shrimp once and as soon as it touched the tank's water my clown ate it. Have you had any similar issues?

My sexy shrimps are really small but by yellow clown goby which has a tremendous amount of personality protects my sexy shrimps. Also, would a Midas blenny fit in my tank?

I mean they are protected by my yellow clown goby

They are long but not very thick so i think you will be fine. Mine is either swimming around or laying down on rocks or hiding with his head out only. It is a nice fish.

I am going to upgrade to a 20 gal now lol. Which fish is more personable in your opinion a blue spotted jawfish or a Midas blenny?

IMO that tank won’t be big enough for a pair of clowns, a goby and another fish. I avoid clowns altogether in nano tanks due to anything under 3’x2’x2’ is a murder scene… Clowns being the culprits.

I just discovered the "barnacle blenny". OMG THEY'RE ADORABLE! Very small and fast, hide in holes and just peek their little heads out lol. They have the most hilarious faces - I'm planning on getting one. :) That would be my vote!

I believe Midas blennies reach up to 6"... I wouldn't even put one in my understocked 32 gal. ;)

I agree that the midas blenny might like a little more swimming space. At least mines loves to swim around the entirety of my 66g tank and sits on the rockwork staring at me. For my evo 13.5, I max'ed out at 3 fish in the beginning (2 clowns and a court jester goby). The court jester stays pretty small

I would advise against a bangaii cardinal since you have sexy shrimp. I’m pretty sure mine is guilty of eating all of mine. I had 5 at one point, now I have 0!

banggaiis will absolutely eat a sexy shrimp in fact sometimes they eat smaller cleaner or fire shrimp. Their mouth is quite big.

if you really HAD to get another fish, have it be one that isn’t on the rocks and is in a different area of the tank to the clowns. Again, I advise against anything else - those clowns will be vicious as adults. I have never seen a nice clown, mine bites me and goes up to the fish that are bigger than her to establish that it’s HER territory. A pair of clowns is worse - You will have the male biting you AND the female. My clownfish is just a regular Occ x Perc, my previous Occ pair would hate me and at 4” they were taking chunks of skin out of my hand.

Not sure a Royal gamma would work but mine has a lot of personality. My stock now are 2 clown , watchmen goby and pistol shrimp, coral banded shrimp plus gamma

Yikes that hurt. Had my 6 line hit a peppermint shrimp I added. Lol. Took all of 3 seconds.
