I'm looking for a goby for my 10 gallon nano tank. I want something with personality and that won't eat tiny shrimp (like sexy shrimp). Since the tank sits near by desk I can watch it constantly so personality is important! Please choose your favorite goby and help me decide.

My favorite is the blue neon goby.

@CoralNerd and @shrimppar306_ I'm looking for something that I don't have in my larger tank. I have a blue neon and a watchman goby (who refuses to pair up with my candy stripe pistol shrimp). I like them both but I don't want the two tanks to be too similar.

As far as behavior - I'm pretty flexible. What I don't want is something that hides in a cave all day. Perching or swimming are fine.

They aren't super colorful, but my masked gobies are out hovering or scooting along the sand / rocks the majority of the time. They are not shy fish at all.

Another small fish that I really enjoy is my barnacle blenny. This fish does spend most of its time in the rocks, but it's a character with its bulging eyes and spazztic behavior when it comes to feeding time! Haha

I also have a tiny Trimma Cana goby that is similar to the masked gobies, if not a bit more shy. He stands out really well though with the bright red stripes.

Barnacle Blenny if ya want a cute paranoid weirdo with big eyes constantly looking out over the tank like a perched gargoyle...

Trimma tevegae (if you can find one!) are awesome mid level swimmers, and you normally don't have many trimma gobies that swim in the middle of the water column!

Hector's or Rainford's is another good option for your tank

Though it's a blenny and not a goby, barnacle blennies pack in a lot of personality into a tiny package. They are social too, so a group would be great.

Barnacle blennies are a total hoot! Man do they move fast.

I love the pinkbar flagtail goby. Just make sure you have a lid. Super personable, hops more then they swim around the tank.
