Hello gang, I don't know which I want to purchase. I want to give BRS a shot at accpeting my hard earned money. So I have the Maxspect or the Icecap Gyre option available on their website.

Will the 2300 GPH Maxspect be enough to move the water around in a regular 75? I have a sump and I believe my return pump is runs at 900GPH. I am looking for something to keep my water column well enough for a general reef tank. Probably going to go with a small to medium fish load with easier to maybe a lil challenging corals. I have a reef breeders light so i hope that will support the easier side of corals.

So back to question do I do the cheaper Icecap with mix reviews or do that maxspect and have the room to expand to another powerhead if I need to down the road. And they have pretty good reviews, I couldn't find much info here on the forum. *im not the smartest on computers*

TIA

I have never owned the Maxspect but I have used the Icecap 1k and 3k's and like both models. Both brands have mixed reviews depending on what website you happen to look at. I think it boils down to your final decision after you complete your research and determine how much you want to spend on them. :)

I have maxspects. I started with 1 230xf now have 2 230xf’s in my 90. It’s more than enough, it was fine with even one before I started getting more acros. The controller is where it’s at with maxspect, it lets you program the day with more variety than any other controller out still.

I added an icecap 3k to my 100g for some extra flow In addition to my mp40s and that things moves some serious water. It does get noisy though once ANY algae accumulates. No experience with the maxspect but I hear they are quieter.

Thanks guys for the input, I am going to save a lil more and get the maxspects, I looked at a lot of the videos on youtube and I can say I think they are worth the extra $$. I know I said i was going to go the other route, but I read a lot of reviews and I think thats what made me change my mind.

Thanks again!

I use 2 gyre fx230 on my 75 gal at 50% and move lot of water. They are quiet at that speed

Conected with icecap module for apex.

Maxspect controller give more power to the pumps that icecap controller
