Hi all, ive been in the hobby for little over a year now and wow what an amazing year it has been.

Since day 1 ive been using Red Sea Pro and now that I have a ton of corals and everything is growing nicely and I understand how parameters work.

Im in the need of a new salt...

I keep my
Alk at 9
Calc at 450(sometimes it gets higher)
Mag at 1400
Salt 1.026

Im not liking how high the red sea pro salt is mixing. Its getting to the point that I dont dose my tank about 3 days before a water change because I know there going to be a slight spike on water change day.

After doing some research I was thinking maybe the Tropic Marin Pro Salt Mix(?) Really not sure what to get...

Im a coral fanatic so I have everything except SPS(Drama queens)

Any help would be appreciated
thanks!

I switched over to the Red Sea blue bucket recently. I was using coral pro before. I had super high alk-12. Calcium would even get upwards of 500. Since switching over, ca and alk dropped. Mg is pretty high -1500.

I just switched to Tropic Marin Pro after a Triton Test. I do like it but the ALK comes in about 7.5 mixed at 35ppt. I was using Fritz RPM Blue box before. No real problems with Fritz other then once and a while it would mix up cloudy. I have only been in the hobby about as long as you and have used Fritz since day one.

Way to high for my liking

I switched from rscp to tm pro. I love Tm pro, it really is great. Mixes so clean, my coral loves it. Mine mixes out to 8.6 alk at 1.026. I keep my tank between 1.025-1.026 & 8.6.

But hows the coral growth? Because thats all I care about
I wouldn’t be recommending it if it was bad lol. Besides it’s not really the salt that makes
the corals grow faster. There are plenty of beautiful grown out reefs on here running reef crystals. TMP just mixes so clear and my levels are spot on. The consistency from batch to batch will go a long way.

Well I know that its all about consistency...

Think Ill give it a go. Red Sea just has so much hype behind it

I used fritz for a while and than switched to tropic and I’m so happy with the switch. It’s night and day. The thing I need not like with fritz was the inconsistency in the batches. The thing I also did not like with fritz was over time the salt not being used lost some of its elements and I would have to use more of the salt to get it right on for salinity
